Aziz Akhannouch from New York: Strengthening Strategic Partnership Between Morocco and the European Union
On the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch held discussions on Wednesday with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
During this meeting, both sides reaffirmed the robustness of the relations between Morocco and the European Union across various fields, emphasizing the strategic importance of the partnership that exists between them.
The discussions included prospects for enhancing mutual cooperation, aimed at further solidifying the economic and trade partnership. Morocco is the European Union’s primary trading partner in Africa, while the EU is the Kingdom’s main trading partner, accounting for over 60% of Morocco’s total trade.
This meeting reflects a mutual desire from both parties to continue and intensify cooperation amid an international context that underscores the necessity of strengthening economic and political ties between Europe and North Africa.
