American Investments in the Sahara: The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises Welcomes Christopher Landau’s Statement

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has expressed its appreciation for the recent remarks made by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Landau regarding the encouragement of investments in the southern regions of the Kingdom.

The CGEM regards this step as an official acknowledgment of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and institutional support for the autonomy plan as the only basis for a just and lasting solution in the region.

The organization emphasized that encouraging Washington’s companies to invest in various regions of the Kingdom, including the southern provinces, reflects an awareness of the significant potential these areas hold in fields such as renewable energy, blue economy, agricultural industries, logistics, and sustainable tourism.

It stressed the readiness of the Moroccan private sector to enhance cooperation with international partners to launch tangible projects that contribute to wealth creation and job opportunities, supporting shared economic development.
