Akhannouch Presents Government Priorities in Education, Health, and Regional Projects in Marrakech

As part of the national communication tour “Path of Achievements,” Aziz Akhannouch, leader of the National Rally of Independents and Prime Minister, reiterated that improving education and strengthening the health system remain at the core of the government’s priorities, considering them fundamental for building balanced development and ensuring social justice.

During the fifth stop of the tour in the Marrakech-Safi region, Akhannouch emphasized that education is a central pillar in public policies, noting that the proportion of leading institutions has reached 50 percent, with plans for expansion by 2027, which he considers a lever for improving the quality of learning.

In the health sector, he highlighted that the government has increased the budget allocated to the sector and has begun constructing and upgrading university hospitals, alongside establishing local health groups. This is in parallel with social programs such as direct support for vulnerable families, universal health coverage, increasing salaries for public sector employees, and raising the minimum wage in the private sector, in addition to measures taken to combat inflation and launching a housing support program.

Akhannouch pointed out that the Marrakech-Safi region is home to major projects underway, including a seawater desalination project in Safi to supply Marrakech with drinking water by 2026, and the expansion of Marrakech Menara Airport to accommodate the growing tourism demand. He also reviewed the efforts made in the Al Haouz province for the reconstruction of areas affected by the 2023 earthquake, by holding 16 ministerial meetings focused on following up on projects that include building new homes, repairing roads, and upgrading educational and health institutions.

The leader of the RNI affirmed that his party has worked over the past four years to support the implementation of government programs and ensure the continuity of reforms, adding that the current phase requires collective mobilization to accelerate the remaining projects as the end of the government term approaches.

The meeting also included a presentation of the government’s achievements in tourism, handicrafts, and the social economy sectors, as well as political and organizational meetings for members of the political bureau in the region, in preparation for the upcoming electoral challenges.
