Hicham Ait Mena, president of Wydad Athletic Club, has launched a scathing attack on player Yahya Jebran, accusing him of disrespecting the club throughout the negotiation process, despite reaching a prior agreement on all contract details.
During his speech at the team’s general assembly, Ait Mena emphasized that Wydad’s management made every effort to finalize the deal, stating, “We agreed with Jebran on all the terms and set a signing date, but he was an hour and a half late. When we called him, he said he was at the barber. This behavior is unacceptable; Wydad is a club that demands respect and cannot be treated this way.”
The Wydad president explained that the negotiation process involved multiple sessions, reminding attendees that former president Said Naciri had offered Jebran 60 million dirhams from the World Cup bonus to renew his contract, while the current management proposed another offer of 40 million dirhams payable in installments, accompanied by a new contract.
However, according to Ait Mena, the player continued to procrastinate and provide repeated excuses, which he viewed as evidence of a lack of seriousness and respect for the institution, ultimately leading to the deal’s complete failure.
Ait Mena concluded his remarks by affirming that the club remains greater than any player, adding, “Wydad has its history and prestige, and it will not accept to be treated with disdain by anyone.”
