Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain player, has broken his silence to admit that the case that has followed him for two years, involving accusations of raping a girl—which resurfaced this summer—has been the toughest phase of his professional career. He described it as the “deepest wound” he has experienced.
In an extensive interview with French channel Canal+, set to air later, Hakimi stated: “Those accusations were the worst I have faced in my life. I have never felt such pain before. It not only harmed me but also affected my family. What hurts me the most is that my children, despite their young age and lack of understanding of what is being written, will grow up one day and read these lies about their father.”
Regarding the decision by the French public prosecutor’s office last month to pursue legal action against him, he clarified: “My lawyer informed me about the step, and we knew that the possibility of a trial existed. I’m handling the situation with total calm, as I am confident in myself and know the truth. I have never done what is attributed to me, and I will never do anything like that.”
Hakimi emphasized that he has been cooperative from the beginning with authorities, saying: “I was the one who requested to talk to the police and present my statements clearly, and I even handed over my DNA to them. I have always been at the disposal of justice, unlike the one who accused me, who did not show the same cooperation.”
He concluded his remarks with a message of hope: “I am more at peace today because I am surrounded by my family and my lawyer. Justice is taking its course, and what I hope for is that the truth will be revealed soon.”
