Casablanca’s Sewers Spark Drivers’ Anger
By Youssef Saissi Hassani
A number of road users in Casablanca have expressed their dissatisfaction with the damage inflicted on their vehicles due to recent road resurfacing work in the economic capital.
The complaints mainly focused on the neighborhoods of Anfa, Ain Chock, Sidi Maârouf, and Hay Mohammadi, where the construction work has caused a noticeable decline in road quality, with potholes, cracks, and irregularities surrounding the sewer systems causing direct damage to vehicles and posing an increasing risk to motorcyclists.
Drivers interviewed by “Express TV” emphasized that the repairs completed did not meet the required quality standards, arguing that “repairs for the sake of repairs” do not serve the image of a city the size of Casablanca. They called for an improvement in the quality of road infrastructure that befits Morocco’s economic capital.
