Egypt’s “Al-Wafd” newspaper highlights Morocco’s celebration of the anniversary of the recovery of the Tindouf region and the role of Dakhla as a driver for development.
The newspaper, the voice of the Wafd Party, shed light on the Moroccan people’s commemoration of the 46th anniversary of the recovery of the Tindouf region, considering this national occasion a pivotal event in the journey to complete territorial unity and reinforce the historical connection to the Moroccan Sahara.
In a detailed report, the newspaper noted that this occasion reflects the ongoing national mobilization in defense of the Sahara issue. It highlighted that Dakhla, or the “Pearl of the South,” has become a symbol of the developmental resurgence taking place in the southern regions, thanks to its strategic location linking Morocco to sub-Saharan Africa and its openness to international markets.
The newspaper praised the noticeable development in the fishing sector and the major projects underway in the area, foremost among them the Atlantic Dakhla port project, part of the national port strategy 2030, which holds promising prospects in maritime trade and green energy, particularly green hydrogen.
“Al-Wafd” also addressed the economic and diplomatic initiatives that have enhanced Dakhla’s regional and international standing through investment promotion platforms, the opening of foreign consulates, and the backing of significant international powers for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, which the United Nations has described as “serious and credible.”
The report concluded that the development policy led by King Mohammed VI has made the southern regions, particularly Dakhla, a model of integrated development and economic openness, bolstering Morocco’s presence both regionally and internationally and solidifying the Moroccan Sahara as an inseparable part of the national territory.
