More than 25 million dirhams to support 40 film festivals in the second edition for 2025.
The Film Festivals Support Committee decided, during its meeting at the Moroccan Cinematic Center in Rabat from July 22 to 25, 2025, to provide financial support for 40 film festivals and events in this year’s second edition, with a total amount of 25,840,000 dirhams.
The Moroccan Cinematic Center clarified that the committee reviewed 49 applications for funding and listened to detailed presentations from festival organizers.
Leading the list of beneficiaries was the Marrakech International Film Festival (22nd edition), which received 12 million dirhams, followed by the National Film Festival in Tangier (25th edition) with 7.5 million dirhams, and then the Women’s Film International Festival in Salé (18th edition) with one million dirhams.
The list of beneficiaries also included:
- International Festival of Author Cinema in Rabat (800,000 dirhams)
- Maghreb Film Festival in Oujda (450,000 dirhams)
- Mountain Cinema Festival in Ouzoud and Film Festival Across the Desert in Zagora (300,000 dirhams each)
- Cinema and Shared Memory Festival in Nador (250,000 dirhams)
- Festivals in Tetouan and Agadir (200,000 dirhams each)
Additionally, the other support amounts were distributed among several national and international festivals in various Moroccan cities, ranging from 30,000 to 190,000 dirhams, including the Sidi Kacem Short Film Festival, Tangier International Film Festival, Cine Plage in Hadaura, Arab World Educational Film Festival, and the International Film Festival of Ouled Tayma, along with the Cinema and History Forum in Oued Zem.
This funding is part of Morocco’s policy to promote cinematic culture and encourage events that contribute to the vibrancy of the film industry and enhance cultural dynamism across various regions of the kingdom.
