New Joint Industrial Facility in Kenitra
In a strategic move reflecting the growing dynamism of the automotive industry in Morocco, the Moroccan Competition Council has approved the establishment of a new joint industrial facility named “Mafaco Tesca Textile SA.” This venture results from a partnership between two prominent companies in the textile sector for automotive manufacturing: the Moroccan “Fabrications de Cotonnières Marocaine SA” (commonly known as Mafaco) and the French Tesca Group Covering Materials SAS.
This joint venture exemplifies the integration of national industrial expertise with international ambition, as Mafaco aims to diversify its industrial activities and expand its product range, while the French Tesca Group seeks to enhance its production capacity and meet the increasing global demand for automotive components, particularly in the area of technical fabrics and car seats.
The new company will be located in the industrial zone of Kenitra, a strategic site that aligns with Moroccan public policies intended to bolster the industrial concentration of the automotive sector, especially in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, which has become a pivotal industrial hub thanks to attracting numerous global investors in this field.
In its regulatory role, the Competition Council affirmed that the establishment of this new facility poses no threat to the principle of competition in the national market. Instead, it falls within the logic of developing industrial offerings and expanding available options for manufacturers, thereby enhancing competitive dynamics in the sector.
