Morocco and Kenya Launch Parliamentary Partnership to Enhance Economic and Diplomatic Cooperation
Moroccan and Kenyan officials emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries during a meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, between the spokesperson for the Kenyan Senate, Amos Kingi Giva, and Morocco’s ambassador to Kenya and South Sudan, Abdelrazak Laasri.
During the meeting, the establishment of a Morocco-Kenya parliamentary friendship group was agreed upon, aimed at enhancing dialogue between the two legislative bodies and strengthening bilateral ties.
Both sides confirmed that this group would work on promoting parliamentary diplomacy and supporting mutual interests in trade, education, and development, as part of a long-term vision to advance the Morocco-Kenya partnership as a model for South-South cooperation, particularly in the fields of African integration and sustainable development.
The discussions also addressed enhancing multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on economic, trade, cultural, and security areas, and intensifying collaboration in trade, investment, infrastructure, and agricultural cooperation.
These talks followed the visit of Kenyan Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, to Morocco last May, which marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations and reflected a mutual desire to deepen the strategic partnership between Rabat and Nairobi.
