Musk Quietly Withdraws Plans to Launch “America Party”

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, billionaire Elon Musk is quietly abandoning his plans to launch a new political party in the United States and has informed his allies that he wants to focus on his companies.

Musk revealed the “America Party” last July following a public disagreement with President Donald Trump over a tax and spending cut bill.

The newspaper reported that he has recently focused on maintaining relationships with Vice President J.D. Vance, admitting to close associates that forming a political party could harm his relationship with Vance.

The report also stated that Musk, the world’s richest man, and his aides have informed Vance’s close associates that the billionaire is considering using some of his financial resources to support Vance if he decides to run for president in 2028.

Reuters has not yet been able to verify the newspaper’s report, and Tesla and the White House did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment outside of business hours.

Vance, who called for a truce following the public spat between Musk and Trump, reaffirmed his position this month, stating that he asked Musk to return to the Republican Party.

Musk also warned of challenging times for Tesla in the upcoming financial quarters following the end of the Trump administration’s support for electric vehicles.

Investors are concerned about whether Musk will be able to dedicate enough time and attention to Tesla following his heated disagreement with Trump about his ambitions to form a new political party.
