Kénitra: Local Authorities Seize 2 Tons of Spoiled Olives in One of the City’s Markets
Local authorities in Kénitra succeeded on Thursday evening in seizing 2 tons of spoiled olives during a surprise campaign at the Liberty Market, located in the third administrative district in downtown Kénitra.
The operation, initially aimed at collecting illegal plastic bags, unexpectedly revealed a large quantity of barrels containing rotten olives, along with suspicious oils and chemicals used to alter the color of the olives and conceal their spoilage.
The specialized committee, which included representatives from local authorities, the economic department, the municipal health department, and the “ONSSA” office, confiscated the materials and transported them for disposal by the municipal truck, under the supervision of the relevant local authorities.
The incident has raised citizens’ concerns and sparked calls from civil society for stricter monitoring and punishment for violators. Authorities emphasized the need to continue monitoring to ensure food safety and protect public health.
