International Investigation Following the Disruption of Over 52 Kilograms of Cocaine Smuggling Through Tangier-Mediterranean Port
The Wilaya Judicial Police in Tangier initiated a judicial inquiry on the evening of Wednesday, August 13, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, after a significant security operation thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of cocaine through the Tangier-Mediterranean port.
This move came after the port security managed to seize 47 slabs of cocaine weighing a total of 52 kilograms and 296 grams, which were securely hidden within the cooling system of a shipping container on a foreign vessel coming from Brazil and heading to a final destination outside Morocco.
Preliminary chemical analysis conducted at the port confirmed that the seized shipment consisted of cocaine, and samples were sent to the National Laboratory for Scientific and Technical Police to accurately determine the concentration of the drug, a crucial step in completing the judicial process.
In parallel, Interpol’s Rabat office was tasked with coordinating with its counterparts in the country of origin and the final destination to uncover all international connections of the criminal network involved in this operation, highlighting the cross-border nature of this organized crime.
