Huawei Cloud Leads Digital Transformation in North Africa
The Huawei Cloud Summit for the North Africa region successfully concluded, gathering over 600 key officials and decision-makers from both the public and private sectors, alongside major partners from more than ten countries. This event reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing digital and developmental transformation in the region through cloud computing and artificial intelligence technology.
The summit served as a strategic platform for envisioning the digital future of North Africa, occurring alongside notable achievements by Huawei Cloud since launching its service region in Egypt in 2024. In just one year, the company recorded exceptional growth of 140%, supporting over 300 clients and 200 partners in digital innovation projects, while training more than 15,000 developers through its smart transformation acceleration programs.
In her opening remarks, Jacqueline Shi, President of Global Marketing and Commercial Services at Huawei Cloud, emphasized that artificial intelligence is at the heart of the company’s innovation strategy. She stressed the need for broad and cost-effective access to AI for all institutions and announced Huawei Cloud’s adoption of a strategy based on five inclusive pillars: connectivity, public services, education, security, and energy, as a foundation for enhancing a smart, low-carbon economy in North Africa.
Felix Feng, President of Huawei Cloud for North Africa, outlined the three foundational pillars of the company’s strategy: empowering customers to manage their solutions efficiently, aligning global practices with local expertise, and providing advanced cloud infrastructure that supports AI and digital transformation across sectors such as public administration, industry, education, and e-commerce.
Joe Show, General Manager of Huawei Cloud in Egypt, reiterated the company’s commitment to expanding its regional infrastructure by launching a new Availability Zone in Cairo by 2026, enhancing performance and reliability in delivering cloud services across the region.
Juan Young, Deputy General Manager of Global Solution Sales, showcased a range of AI-powered innovations, including the ModelArts Studio platform, which offers ready-to-implement AI services, as well as tools like CodeArts and MetaStudio that enable institutions to accelerate the development of smart content and applications.
He Hang, General Manager of Global Business at Huawei Hybrid Cloud, highlighted the latest hybrid cloud solutions through the Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5 platform, which provides over 120 localized services and supports the adoption of advanced technologies such as cloud-native computing and data lakes.
Reinforcing its “Cloud for Good” principle, Aka Day, Marketing Director, presented the experience of the startup Intella, which developed the world’s most accurate Arabic voice recognition engine with the support of Huawei Cloud through advanced cloud resources and the ModelArts platform.
The summit also witnessed the announcement of the Egypt Developers Community Appointment program, aiming to integrate AI and cloud computing technologies into university curricula. Among the notable success stories recognized was the Manetho application, winner of the Huawei Developer Competition Egypt 2024, which translates hieroglyphics using AI and is currently in use at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, with plans for adoption at the Grand Egyptian Museum soon.
At the conclusion of the summit, Huawei Cloud reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and accelerating the smart transformation journey in North Africa, focusing on sectors such as education, public services, connectivity, and security, to build a comprehensive and sustainable digital future for the region.
