A heatwave and expected thunderstorms in several regions of the Kingdom from Monday to Friday

The General Directorate of Meteorology reported that several areas in Morocco are set to experience a strong heatwave accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and localized gusts of wind from Monday to Friday, according to an orange alert bulletin.

It is anticipated that temperatures will range between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius on Monday in the provinces of Tata, Zagora, Khouribga, Ouazzane, Beni Mellal, Fqih Ben Saleh, Meknes, Hajeb, Fez, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, and Taza.

The phenomenon is expected to expand on Tuesday and Wednesday to include the provinces of Taza, Kelaa of Sraghna, Ouazzane, Rhamna, Beni Mellal, Meknes, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Khmissat, Youssoufia, Taounate, and Taroudant, with temperatures remaining in the same range (40 to 44 degrees).

Starting Tuesday and lasting through Friday, some southern regions are expected to see a further increase in temperatures, reaching between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius, especially in the provinces of Tata, Assa-Zag, Smara, Oued Eddahab, Boujdour, and Oussard.

In this context, thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong local winds are expected on Monday from 2 PM to 11 PM in the regions of Errachidia, Figuig, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Midelt, Khenifra, and Ifrane, with rainfall amounts ranging between 15 and 25 mm.

The Directorate has urged citizens to exercise caution, particularly in areas affected by these weather fluctuations.
