“El Economista”: Morocco a Global Player in the Automotive Industry
The Spanish economic newspaper “El Economista” confirmed on Tuesday that Morocco has taken a decisive step in its ambition to become a key player in the global automotive industry.
The newspaper noted that Morocco has doubled its production capacity over the past decade, reaching one million vehicles by 2025. This level positions it among the top 15 manufacturers globally and establishes it as an undisputed leader on the African continent.
The publication highlighted that this achievement is the result of a strategy combining major investments with the development of modern infrastructure, particularly the Tangier Med port, alongside structural projects like the new Nador West Med port complex.
The Spanish newspaper also pointed out that the presence of major manufacturers like Renault and Stellantis has enabled Morocco to solidify its position within the global automotive value chain, producing output comparable to that of several European countries with established industrial traditions.
The report continued to emphasize that Morocco’s geographical proximity to Europe, coupled with a skilled and competitive workforce, as well as an attractive tax framework, makes it a compelling platform for investors. This dynamic is closely monitored by Spain, which sees both a challenge in terms of competitiveness and an opportunity for industrial collaboration.
“El Economista” concluded that this trajectory reflects the Kingdom’s determination, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to make the automotive industry a driver of economic development and a lever for integration into global exchanges.
