On Sunday, the national local team, coached by Tarik Skitioui, will kick off its matches in the “CHAN,” which Morocco has won twice: in 2018 under coach Jamal Salmi and in 2000 under coach Hussein Amouta. Skitioui is looking to establish himself as the third Moroccan coach to win the continental competition, confirming his prowess after leading the Olympic national team to a bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games. He aims to solidify his position by clinching the “CHAN” title.
In his latest statements before Sunday’s match against the Angolan team, Skitioui emphasized that the current standing of Moroccan football on the continental stage requires the local team to compete for the “CHAN” title, reflecting the dominance of national teams across all age categories in seizing continental trophies. He assured that the players are aware of the responsibility upon them and the expectations of the Moroccan sports public, eager for new titles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host in December of this year.
