The destination of young Moroccan international Elyas Ben Sghir has finally been determined after weeks of negotiations and speculation. Monaco has reached a definitive agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the player to join the German champions.
A source close to the deal revealed that the agreement was fully finalized, despite a late attempt by an English club to derail the German club’s plans. However, Bayer Leverkusen’s persistence and strong desire to acquire the player tipped the scales in their favor.
As part of the transfer, Monaco will receive more than €30 million, in addition to a range of performance-related bonuses, as well as a significant percentage of any future resale value for the player, making the deal financially advantageous.
Ben Sghir’s contract with Leverkusen will last for five years, allowing him to embark on a new experience in the Bundesliga, where he hopes to further his career at one of Europe’s top clubs.
The 19-year-old Moroccan player is considered one of the rising talents in European football, having caught the attention of several major clubs with his impressive performances for Monaco in Ligue 1.
