As is customary on such national occasions, His Majesty King Mohammed VI issued a royal pardon benefiting a number of prisoners and detainees, reaffirming values of tolerance and providing new opportunities for beneficiaries to reintegrate into society.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, this year’s royal pardon encompasses 881 individuals sentenced by various courts across the kingdom. Among them, 676 detainees are currently incarcerated—comprising 9 individuals who benefited from the remaining sentence and 667 who received a reduction in their sentences.

Regarding beneficiaries who are already at liberty, numbering 205, they are divided into 38 individuals who were pardoned from imprisonment or what remains of it, 10 who were pardoned from imprisonment while still subject to fines, 142 who received pardons for fines, 13 who benefited from pardons from both imprisonment and fines, along with two individuals granted pardons for their fines and what remains of their imprisonment.
