Wydad Considering Separation from Boutouil
Wydad Athletic Club is on the verge of ending its association with defender Abdel-Moneim Boutouil. Club president Hicham Ait Manna is expected to meet with the player to discuss the possibility of mutually terminating his contract, as the latter seeks a change of scenery and a new challenge outside the team’s structure.
This move comes in the wake of a wave of criticism directed at Boutouil following his disappointing performances during the FIFA Club World Cup, particularly in matches against Manchester City and Juventus, where many believed his defensive errors contributed to the team’s decline.
Additionally, increasing pressure from fans has prompted the club’s management to reassess the player’s future as part of an anticipated overhaul that will involve several players, in preparation for rebuilding the squad for the upcoming season.
The expected meeting is likely to culminate in a mutually agreeable solution that ensures an amicable separation between the two parties, especially since Boutouil’s contract is still legally binding.
