Jouad Ziyat has secured the presidency of Raja Club Athletic after winning the second round of voting held in Casablanca during the extraordinary general assembly convened to elect a new president and turn a new page in the club’s management.
Ziyat’s election came after he triumphed over his rival, Abdullah Berwain, in a runoff that saw strong participation from club members, ultimately granting him the confidence to lead Raja in the upcoming phase, as he received the required majority of votes.
Ziyat’s return to the presidency follows several years away from the position, having previously led the club. Today, he steps back into the spotlight amid significant financial and sports challenges that await the club, notably restructuring the team and managing the next phase after the establishment of a sports company.
In the coming days, Ziyat is expected to unveil his roadmap, as well as his vision regarding technical aspects and player signings, in preparation for the upcoming football season. The supporters of Raja are eager to see the team regain its local and continental prestige.
The presidential elections witnessed intense competition, particularly in the first round, which featured three candidates: Jouad Ziyat, Abdullah Berwain, and Said Hasban. Hasban was eliminated after finishing third, leading to a second round between Ziyat and Berwain, which concluded in Ziyat’s favor.
Ziyat’s return to the presidential seat is significant for Raja fans, who anticipate decisive actions to pull the team out of its financial and organizational crises and initiate a comprehensive project that restores the team’s stature on both national and African levels.
