The tourism sector in Essaouira maintains its positive performance, with classified accommodation facilities in the city recording an 18% increase in tourist nights during the first four months of 2025, according to the latest data from the Tourism Observatory.
The total number of nights registered reached 232,837 by the end of April, compared to 197,950 nights during the same period in 2024, reflecting a renewed attraction for the Windy City, both among Moroccan and foreign tourists.
The occupancy rate of classified accommodation facilities in the city saw a slight improvement, reaching 43% compared to 41% during the same period last year.
April was the most vibrant month, with tourist nights increasing by 21% to reach 76,134 nights, compared to 63,089 nights in April 2024. The monthly occupancy rate also rose from 47% to 50%.
On a national level, figures indicate a similar trend, as the number of tourist nights in classified establishments exceeded 9 million nights by the end of April 2025, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.
This growth is attributed to the strong performance of international tourism, which increased by 19%, along with a slight growth in domestic tourism of 4%, according to the same source.
