The U.S. Embassy in Rabat Warns Against Visa Fraud and Announces New Digital Verification Procedures

- in International

The American embassy in Rabat has issued a clear warning to visa applicants regarding the consequences of submitting false information or forged documents, emphasizing that such actions could result in a permanent ban from obtaining a visa.

In an official post on its Facebook page dated Friday, July 25, 2025, the embassy stated that “forging visa applications has severe repercussions,” stressing that “lying or providing incorrect documents exposes the applicant to a permanent prohibition from entering the United States under immigration law.”

This warning coincides with the United States tightening its security vetting procedures, having begun tracking the digital footprint of visa applicants, particularly within the study (F), vocational training (M), and cultural exchange (J) categories.

The embassy had previously requested that individuals in these categories keep their social media accounts fully open to the public during the processing of their applications.

This measure is part of a broader strategy by U.S. authorities to verify the consistency of official data with what individuals post online, including images, comments, and digital behavior, which may reveal intentions that contradict what is disclosed in travel requests.
