The Public Prosecutor’s Office: Recordings of Hicham Mandari’s Death are “Fabricated” and a Five-Year Sentence Issued Against the Accused

The Public Prosecutor at the criminal court in Casablanca has confirmed that the videos published on one of the websites regarding the circumstances of Hicham Mandari’s death are baseless and have no relation to reality.

In an official statement, the Public Prosecutor clarified that these recordings were the subject of a judicial investigation, which resulted in the presentation of the victim’s brother before the judiciary. The investigation revealed that the content of these recordings was solely the fabrications of the individual concerned, as evidenced by the following information:

– The victim’s brother spontaneously stated during the preliminary investigation that he had been in contact with the website owner since late 2023, after purchasing phone sim cards for this purpose. He mentioned that he presented himself to the website owner as a retired security officer, claiming to possess important information regarding his brother’s death and expressing his desire to publish it.

– He admitted in his statement that the information he conveyed to the website owner was fabricated, and that he deliberately invented false events.

– He provided false information regarding the death of the victim’s mother, while she is, in fact, alive.

The statement added that these actions, according to the criminal law, constitute offenses punishable by law, which necessitated bringing the accused before the Public Prosecutor, who decided to prosecute him in custody due to the seriousness of the facts.

On July 14, 2025, the court issued a ruling convicting the individual and sentenced him to five years in prison, along with a fine of 50,000 dirhams.
