Atlas Lionesses Qualify for Women’s AFCON Quarterfinals

The Moroccan women’s national team secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Senegal 1-0 today at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, as part of the third round of Group A.

The Atlas Lionesses scored their only goal of the match in the 44th minute from the penalty spot, converted by Yasmin Merabet.

It’s worth noting that the Moroccan women’s team finished the group stage in first place with 7 points, ahead of Zambia on goal difference, while Senegal stands in third place with three points, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo sits at the bottom of the table with no points.
