Royal Air Maroc Signs Agreement to Facilitate the Movement of Ivorian Businesses at Preferential Rates

Royal Air Maroc signed a partnership agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire on Tuesday in Abidjan. This agreement aims to grant member companies of the chamber preferential rates on flights to facilitate their access to international markets and enhance their business opportunities.

The agreement was signed by the regional representative of the national carrier in Côte d’Ivoire, Mohamed Babou, and the chamber’s president, Vaman Tori. This development reflects the strong bilateral relations between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire and the desire of both parties to continue fostering tangible economic partnerships.

The agreement provides discounts of up to 20% on airfare for all chamber members, which could help streamline transportation budgets and encourage companies to explore new markets. Babou highlighted that this initiative aligns with the airline’s strategy to position Casablanca as a continental hub for air travel, a crucial pillar for tourism, business, and diplomacy.

Babou also noted that Royal Air Maroc transported approximately 7.5 million passengers in 2023, and the flight route between Casablanca and Abidjan, established in 1984, has strengthened relations between the two countries. He emphasized the ambitious program signed by the airline with the Moroccan government, aimed at increasing the fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037, with new routes specifically targeting Africa and strategic markets.

For his part, Vaman Tori praised the quality of the historical relationships between the two nations, stating that this step enhances the economic dynamism of both countries. He noted that this partnership facilitates trade and investment exchanges and opens new horizons for Ivorian and African businesses.

The chamber president considered the agreement a turning point that allows companies to benefit from logistical services and pricing advantages, paving the way for organizing economic meetings and business forums at both continental and international levels.

In related remarks, Kouyaté Ahua, the Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Forum in Côte d’Ivoire, stated that the agreement translates the aspirations of emerging businesses to expand and open up to new partners. She asserted that this initiative will bolster the competitiveness of Ivorian enterprises and facilitate their access to broader markets within a framework of enduring and promising partnerships.
