Record High in Crossing Rates Between Morocco and Spain

The border crossings between Morocco and Spain are witnessing an unprecedented record in the movement of people and vehicles, particularly when compared to the same period last year, with the Tanger-Med port leading in crossing points.

The maritime route linking Tanger-Med port and Algeciras is the most utilized, followed by the Algeciras-Ceuta line. According to data from the Spanish Directorate General for Civil Protection and Emergencies, the number of passengers who crossed the Strait of Gibraltar since the beginning of the operation last month has exceeded 350,000.

Moroccan authorities are enhancing coordination with their Spanish counterparts at the security level to ensure the smooth passage, especially with the anticipated surge in traffic coinciding with the peak crossing period at the end of this month and the beginning of August.

Spanish authorities have expressed satisfaction with the progress of the “Marhaba” operation, describing the atmosphere as normal, without significant incidents.
