Morocco and Niger Strengthen Cooperation in Transport and Logistics

On Wednesday in Rabat, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdel-Samad Qiyouh held talks with Niger’s Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Brigadier General Abdrahmane Amadou, focusing on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.

The meeting addressed prospects for partnership in rail, air, and road transport, highlighting Morocco’s advanced experience in these sectors. The Moroccan minister expressed the kingdom’s readiness to establish cooperation based on a “win-win” principle, including training, knowledge transfer, and technical support for Niger, particularly in areas like road safety and modernizing transport infrastructure.

Qiyouh reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to supporting Niger through technical training programs and experience exchange, noting that the Atlantic initiative launched by King Mohammed VI serves as a strategic lever to connect Sahel countries, including Niger, to the Atlantic Ocean, enhancing their access to markets and boosting trade and agricultural and industrial exchanges.

For his part, the Nigerien minister expressed admiration for the developments in the Moroccan transport sector, praising its organization and infrastructure quality. He affirmed his country’s desire to benefit from the Moroccan model to develop a national airline, expand the railway network, and enhance road safety systems. He also emphasized Niger’s interest in building an integrated transport network to overcome isolation and achieve development.

The Nigerien official commended the support Morocco provides to his country, stating that this visit is part of an effort to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance an African partnership based on solidarity and strategic integration.
