Morocco and Gambia reaffirmed on Wednesday in Rabat their commitment to developing a strategic partnership exemplifying African cooperation based on solidarity and mutual support. The meeting between Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his Gambian counterpart, Serign Modou Njie, served as an opportunity to reaffirm the strength of the relations between the two countries.

The ministers discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of investment, trade, fisheries, renewable energy, and infrastructure. Both sides expressed a shared desire to explore new opportunities to strengthen their partnership at the bilateral, regional, and international levels.

Morocco expressed its readiness to support Gambia’s National Development Plan 2023-2027, which aims to improve social services and drive economic development. The two parties also acknowledged the deep ties that bind their peoples under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow.

It is noteworthy that this visit marks the new Gambian minister’s first foreign diplomatic mission since his appointment, highlighting the symbolic significance of relations with Morocco and its priority on Gambia’s foreign policy agenda.
