Moroccan Students Returning from Ukraine Await Rescheduled Meeting with the Ministry of Health

- in Society

Parents of Moroccan students in Ukraine continue to await a meeting that was scheduled with officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection several weeks ago. This meeting was also supposed to include representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation on February 25, but it was postponed without a new date set.

The National Association of Parents of Moroccan Students in Ukraine sent a reminder letter to Minister Ameen Al-Tahraoui, urging for a prompt date to discuss the challenges facing the students. An informed source revealed that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection delayed the meeting to include officials from the Ministry of Higher Education as well.

The association had previously met with the Ukrainian ambassador in Rabat and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, in addition to officials from the Ministry of Higher Education. Abdelkader Youssefi, president of the association, emphasized the need for the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to activate the dialogue principle with student families to expedite the resolution of pending issues.

Youssefi affirmed that a meeting with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Higher Education alone is insufficient to resolve these matters, necessitating a discussion with officials from the Ministry of Health as well. He pointed out the importance of discussing ways to regularize the students’ situations and facilitate their internships, suggesting the possibility of conducting internships in various cities instead of being limited to Rabat and Casablanca.

Youssefi reported that some students had not received official invitations to undertake field internships despite completing theoretical training, noting that the situation for Moroccan students in Ukraine is still unresolved, with some continuing to study remotely.

The association has prepared a demand file outlining its requests to all relevant ministries, addressing issues related to practical internships and the equivalence of degrees obtained by students from Ukrainian universities.
