Morocco’s women’s national football team kicked off their journey in “CAN 2025” with a valuable victory over Tanzania, winning 1-0 in a match held yesterday evening at the municipal stadium in Berkane. This game was part of the first round of Group C in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco until July 26.
The winning goal for Mali was scored by Sarato Traore in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half, giving her team their first three points in the tournament.
With this victory, Mali joins South Africa at the top of the group, with the defending champions having a goal difference advantage. Ghana and Tanzania remain in third and fourth place with no points.
South Africa had opened their tournament campaign earlier on the same day with a deserved 2-0 win over Ghana.
The second round of matches is expected to feature intense encounters. Mali will face Ghana next Friday at 5 PM, while Tanzania will take on South Africa at 8 PM, a match that could be crucial in determining the teams advancing to the next round.
