Infantino inaugurates FIFA’s first regional office in Africa from the heart of Morocco
Morocco is set to host a significant sporting event next Saturday with the opening of FIFA’s first regional office on the African continent. The event will be attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa.
The new office will be opened alongside the Mohammed VI Football Center in Maâmora, which is considered one of the world’s premier football facilities in terms of infrastructure and quality of equipment. This enhances the country’s position as a preferred destination for sports investment on the continent.
The office’s inauguration coincides with the organization of the final match of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2024”, which will see the Moroccan team face Nigeria on Saturday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. Infantino is expected to attend the final, providing additional visibility to a tournament that has seen professional organization and wide public interest.
This event reflects international recognition of Morocco’s leadership role in the development of African football, both women’s and men’s, in addition to its continuous support for infrastructure projects and sports training.
FIFA’s move demonstrates its confidence in Morocco’s football strategy and solidifies its growing presence on the global sports scene, as the country continues to prepare for major events in the coming years, including the 2030 World Cup.
