In Marrakech, Morocco and Brazil Forge Enhanced Atlantic Partnership

Morocco and Brazil have launched a new drive for their economic partnership by expanding cooperation beyond traditional sectors, leveraging their shared location within the Atlantic space. This initiative was announced during a high-level session held in Marrakech on Wednesday as part of the Brazil-Morocco “Lady” Forum.

Participants in the session, organized under the theme “Business Development between Brazil and Morocco,” discussed the potential for building a broader and more diverse bilateral partnership encompassing sectors such as industry, energy, innovation, and green technology.

Former Brazilian President Michel Temer praised the growing dynamics of relations between the two countries, describing it as “a promise of shared prosperity.” He affirmed Brazil’s readiness to expand its activities in Morocco beyond the “agrobusiness” sector and called for exploring new areas of cooperation.

For his part, Ali Seddiki, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, highlighted the convergence of economic visions between Rabat and Brasília, stating that both countries share a common ambition to build balanced and sustainable partnerships with a long-term vision. He noted that the volume of bilateral trade reached approximately $3 billion in 2024, reflecting a growth of 4.52% within one year, according to the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

Seddiki remarked that “the Atlantic is not a barrier, but a link,” emphasizing the geographical importance of the two countries in creating economic synergy amid the global transformations.

Participants unanimously stressed the need to diversify sectoral exchanges, encourage mutual investments, and implement joint projects in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, green industry, and digital transformation. They also called for enhancing the exchange of expertise and opening new trade horizons in African and South American markets.

The “Lady” Forum, organized by a group of business leaders, brings together over a hundred officials from the public and private sectors, along with ministers and diplomats from both countries. The program includes several thematic sessions addressing vital areas such as food industries, energy transition, tourism, trade, services, and technology.

This forum reinforces the commitment of Morocco and Brazil to establish an Atlantic partnership based on shared development logic, open to the future, and driven by innovation.
