The Morocco Electronic Games Industry Exhibition kicked off last night, amidst growing interest in developing this promising sector. The first day of the event saw the announcement of an incubation program aimed at startups in the electronic gaming field that rely on cloud computing technologies.

This new program comes as part of a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and the Chinese tech giant Huawei, which is supporting Morocco’s efforts to develop its video game ecosystem and esports. The program aims to assist Moroccan startups and open new horizons for them both locally and internationally.

In a speech delivered during the exhibition’s opening, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, emphasized that most startups in this sector are small and medium-sized enterprises. He stressed that incubation by a global player like Huawei will enable these companies to benefit from advanced technical expertise and access to global markets.

The minister noted that the support offered includes advanced cloud services, specialized training, as well as technical guidance and support in managing digital projects. He also highlighted the importance of such initiatives in supporting digital entrepreneurship and equipping young people with competitive tools that open doors to self-employment and innovation.

According to the announced data, the benefiting companies from this program are from various Moroccan cities and operate in diverse fields, including game development, educational games, and community platforms. They are expected to benefit from a general cloud capacity, which will help strengthen their infrastructure and improve the quality of their products.

The program also stipulates the provision of precise technical guidance and practical training in cloud computing technologies, in addition to facilitating access to a wide network of investors and international partners in this field.

The Huawei Cloud Gaming Startup program is part of a broader vision to enhance digital innovation in Morocco and represents a practical step toward building a comprehensive national ecosystem to support electronic game developers and empower them with the tools for success amid the digital transformation that the kingdom is experiencing.

The event, which is attracting considerable attention from industry professionals and digital enthusiasts, reflects the new dynamism in the electronic gaming sector in Morocco and cements its position as an emerging hub in this field at the African continent level.
