His Majesty King Mohammed VI affirmed in his Throne Day address that there is no room today or tomorrow for a Morocco that operates at two speeds.
In a lofty speech marking the 26th anniversary of his ascension to the throne, His Majesty emphasized that Throne Day is not only a symbolic moment to reflect on the deep ties between the throne and the people but also an opportunity to assess achievements and gains across various sectors.
The King highlighted that his priority over the past years has been to build a competitive national economy characterized by diversity and openness, under a stable microeconomic framework. He added that, despite climatic challenges manifested in consecutive years of drought, the Moroccan economy has managed to maintain significant and consistent growth rates, underscoring the dynamism of the industrial sector.
His Majesty pointed out that “the rising Morocco” is distinguished by its diverse international partnerships, establishing itself as a reliable and responsible partner. He praised the launch of the high-speed train project linking Kenitra and Marrakech as a testament to this integrated developmental approach.
The King stated that development cannot achieve its ultimate goal unless it translates into tangible improvements in the living conditions of citizens in various regions, adding, “I will not be satisfied if this development does not contribute to improving the living conditions of citizens in all areas.”
In this context, His Majesty emphasized that human development has remained and will continue to be a priority of the new era, focusing on providing direct support to deserving individuals and families while working to reduce regional and social disparities.
He concluded his speech by noting that the ongoing suffering of some regions from poverty and vulnerability is incompatible with the vision of today’s Morocco, firmly stating, “There is no room today or tomorrow for a Morocco that operates at two speeds.”
