Baitas: National Economy Grows by 4.8% Thanks to Government Reforms and Public Investment
Mustafa Baitas, the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, announced that the Moroccan economy recorded a significant growth of 4.8% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 3% during the same period last year. He indicated that this positive development reflects the results of reforms initiated by the government across various sectors.
During a press conference following the meeting of the government council on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Baitas explained that this growth is directly linked to the economic and social measures adopted by the government. He highlighted a clear improvement in non-agricultural sectors, including manufacturing industries, alongside positive performance from the agricultural sector. Public investment reached 340 billion dirhams, an increase of 90 billion dirhams compared to 2022.
The minister emphasized a notable revival in domestic demand, interpreting this as a reflection of Moroccan households’ trust in ongoing reforms, calling for caution against certain opinion polls he termed “skeptical.”
Baitas pointed out that social dialogue significantly contributed to improving employee incomes through wage increases and tax reductions, in addition to the betterment of private sector wages and the continuation of social support programs, including housing assistance, the compensation fund, and support for the agricultural sector.
The government spokesman concluded by expressing optimism about the future of the national economy, affirming that rising growth and declining inflation on a monthly basis will positively impact the living conditions of Moroccan families.
