Wydad Athletic Club is intensifying its efforts to finalize the transfer of South African striker Thimbenkosi Lourch, who played for the team on loan last season and made a positive impact on the attacking line.

According to Africafoot, Wydad’s management has entered into advanced negotiations with their counterparts at Mamelodi Sundowns to reach a final agreement for the permanent transfer of the 31-year-old player.

The source revealed that Lourch’s agent arrived today in Casablanca to finalize the deal with the club’s officials, with both sides keen to reach an agreement that satisfies everyone involved.

Lourch is considered one of the standout players from last season, prompting coach Mohamed Amin Ben Hashim to advocate for activating the purchase clause, which is estimated at around $600,000, while the South African club is holding out for no less than €1 million.

Additionally, the source stated that the player has expressed a clear desire to continue his journey within the walls of the Casablanca club, having quickly adapted to the environment and lifestyle in the city, believing that his experience with Wydad has been a turning point in his football career.

The red club aims to wrap up the deal before the start of the training camp scheduled for July 9, ensuring the player’s participation in all training sessions from the outset as part of the intensive preparations for the upcoming season.
