Akhnouch: The Government is Leading an Unprecedented Structural Reform in the Health System to Enhance Justice and Efficiency

The Head of Government, Aziz Akhnouch, stated that the government is undertaking a comprehensive and profound reform of the national health system by implementing a series of unprecedented measures that have contributed to a tangible change in the sector, surpassing previous partial reforms that failed to achieve the desired goals.
During the monthly accountability session in the House of Representatives on Monday, dedicated to the topic of “The National Health System: Current Achievements and Future Aspirations,” Akhnouch explained that this reform is based on the framework law relating to the national health system, which forms the legal basis for implementing reforms and establishing a modern and effective health sector.
The Head of Government pointed out that this framework law is based on four key pillars: establishing good governance in the sector, enhancing the regional dimension, training and motivating human resources, and upgrading health services, along with accelerating the digitization of health services.
In this context, Akhnouch emphasized that the government has allocated an unprecedented financial effort to support this reform by continuously increasing the health sector budget, which rose from 19.7 billion dirhams in 2021 to 32.6 billion dirhams in 2025, marking an increase of over 65% during the current government term.
The Head of Government considered that this trajectory clearly reflects the government’s seriousness in fulfilling its commitments and embodies the political will to bring about a structural transformation in the health sector that meets citizens’ aspirations and ensures fair and effective access to health services.
