Achraf Hakimi continues to shine this season
Follow-up
Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi has continued his impressive performances with Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup, affirming his position as one of the world’s top full-backs.
The Moroccan international played a direct role in leading his team to the final of the tournament, showcasing a remarkable performance in the semi-final match against Real Madrid, where he assisted the third goal in a commanding 4-0 victory for the French capital club.
Hakimi played six matches in the tournament, delivering consistent and effective performances, scoring two goals against Seattle Sounders and Inter Miami, as well as providing assists against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, bringing his total contributions this season across all competitions to 27—an unprecedented number for a defender, surpassing the previous record held by Brazilian Dani Alves during the 2010-2011 season with Barcelona (25 contributions).
This historic achievement reflects the significant improvement in Hakimi’s performance, as he has not only fulfilled his defensive duties but has also become a crucial element in his team’s attacking build-up, maintaining constant threat on the right flank.
He is set to face a strong challenge in the final when Paris Saint-Germain meets Chelsea on Sunday, starting at 8 PM (GMT+1), at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
