Anticipated heatwave in several regions of Morocco, with thunderstorms expected in the Atlas and eastern region.
Update
The General Directorate of Meteorology has reported that the weather in Morocco will remain influenced by the extension of the Azores high over the coming days. This will contribute to generally stable conditions along the coastal areas, with expectations of low clouds and foggy conditions during the night and morning, particularly on the Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines.
Conversely, the directorate indicated that the inland and southeastern regions will be affected by a thermal low from the desert, maintaining warm to hot conditions. Temperatures are expected to range between 37 and 43 degrees Celsius, especially on Monday and Tuesday in the southeastern region and extreme southern Morocco.
In the upper atmosphere, the presence of a medium to high air pressure will help maintain stable conditions along the coastal regions, but it will also allow for the intrusion of hot and unstable air masses into the mountainous areas. This will lead to the formation of unstable cumulonimbus clouds, resulting in scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, particularly over the High and Middle Atlas, the Rif, and southern eastern region. There may be relatively strong wind gusts, which could stir up dust in the southeastern region and southern provinces.
Regarding the weather forecast for Tuesday, the directorate predicted warm to relatively hot weather in the Tadla plains, the Rehamna region, the eastern region, the southeastern region, and the eastern parts of the southern provinces, along with the formation of relatively thick low clouds in the northwest of the southern provinces, with the possibility of local drizzle. Additionally, there may be fog near the coasts during the night and morning, as well as scattered showers or rainfall in the High and Middle Atlas, southeastern areas, and the southern eastern region, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms and relatively strong gusts of wind.
On Wednesday, relatively warm to hot weather will persist in several regions, especially in the southeastern region, eastern parts of the southern provinces, the eastern region, southern Rif, and the plains west of the Atlas, while the formation of relatively thick low clouds and the possibility of local drizzle will continue in the western Mediterranean and the northwest of the southern provinces.
According to forecasts, relatively warm to hot conditions are expected to continue from Thursday through next Monday, particularly in the inland areas, southeastern region, eastern region, and within the southern provinces. Low clouds and fog will persist at night and in the morning near the coast, with the probability of thunderstorms after noon over the High and Middle Atlas and southern eastern region.
