A Ray of Hope from the High Atlas: The Ministry of Health Takes Charge of Treating Young Fardous for Her Rare Illness
In a widely resonating humanitarian gesture, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has decided to fully cover the treatment of young Fardous Bouserfan, who suffers from a rare medical condition known as “Primary Immunodeficiency,” by providing the necessary immunoglobulin, which costs 16,950 dirhams.
This official intervention follows a deterioration in the child’s health, who hails from a poor family in the Ajlmus community in the High Atlas mountains of Khenifra province. She had been silently suffering due to a lack of resources to secure her treatment. The illness has weakened her immune system, leaving her body a vulnerable target for infections without the ability to resist them.
The government’s response came after emotional pleas from the family deep in the mountains, which echoed into Parliament through MP Saadia Amhazoun. She submitted an urgent request to Health Minister Amin Tehrawi, calling for intervention to save the life of the “Ziyanian” girl, referring to her Amazigh mountainous heritage.
In her request, the MP from the National Rally of Independents urged for a long-term solution to the child’s situation by ensuring regular provision of the original medication and immediate social support for her family. She also called for the establishment of a national mechanism for rare diseases to ensure prompt and free intervention in such cases, particularly for children in remote and marginalized areas, reinforcing the principle of health and geographic justice.
