A decisive Moroccan touch propelled Paris Saint-Germain to the semi-finals of the Club World Cup, as Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi delivered a crucial assist in injury time, contributing to his team’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals held today, Saturday, in Atlanta, USA.
Hakimi played a key role throughout the match, which ended the first half scoreless. However, it included a painful moment with a serious injury to German player Jamal Musiala, who suffered a double fracture of the fibula and ankle, forcing him to leave the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the third minute of extra time.
In the second half, Paris Saint-Germain opened the scoring in the 78th minute with a goal from Désiré Doué. Shortly after, William Pacho received a red card in the 82nd minute, followed by Lucas Hernández in the 90+2 minute, leaving the French team to continue the match with nine players.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Achraf Hakimi successfully led a swift counterattack in the dying moments of the match, providing a decisive pass to Ousmane Dembélé, who netted the second goal, securing PSG’s spot in the semi-finals, where they will face the winner between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
