Wahbi: The Business Code Hinders Development and Reform Has Become Necessary

Justice Minister Abdellatif Wahbi confirmed that the current Business Code has become an obstacle to the development of commercial activity in Morocco, explaining that the ministry has initiated a partial review, including the cheques code; however, there is an urgent need to amend other texts, particularly those related to business difficulties.

During the oral question session in the House of Representatives, Wahbi noted that the current system lacks logic, treating large and small companies the same way in business difficulty files, despite the vast differences in capital size and financial capacity.

He pointed out that this situation contributes to the accumulation of tax evasion and debt cases within the courts, necessitating urgent intervention to reorganize the legal framework related to businesses.

In this context, the minister revealed the preparation of a new decree concerning the profession of the trustee, aimed at improving the management of business difficulties, indicating that it will be presented at the upcoming government council for approval.
