The administration of the central prison of Moula Berki in Safi clarified in a statement issued today, June 23, 2025, the truth behind recent reports circulating on some websites regarding the transfer of an inmate to an outside hospital following a deterioration in his health due to a hunger strike.
The management confirmed that the inmate in question, identified as (M.S.), began a hunger strike on May 30, 2025, in protest related to his case. After several days of the strike, specifically on June 7, 2025, he experienced a spike in blood pressure, which necessitated his urgent transfer to the regional hospital in Safi for necessary treatment.
The statement added that the inmate returned to the prison facility on June 9, 2025, after his condition improved and stabilized, indicating that he is currently in stable health and under continuous medical monitoring within the prison’s medical clinic.
In the same context, the administration confirmed that the competent public prosecutor listened to the inmate on June 19 of this month, assessing his health and psychological condition. However, he insisted on continuing his hunger strike despite all efforts made to address his situation.
The prison administration concluded its statement by emphasizing its continuous commitment to providing necessary healthcare for all inmates and handling special cases within the framework of the law and respect for human rights.
