The Belgian Premier League club Westerlo has announced the appointment of Moroccan coach Issam Cheraki as the team’s head coach starting from the upcoming season.
The club has signed a contract with Cheraki without disclosing its duration, indicating that the choice of the Moroccan coach was based on his extensive experience in Belgian football and his ability to develop young talents, which aligns with the club’s philosophy.
This appointment comes just a few days after Cheraki left his position as assistant coach at Scottish club Glasgow Rangers, where he spent only half a season.
Cheraki has an impressive coaching record, most notably leading the Moroccan Olympic team to victory in the Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations, previously hosted in Morocco.
