The governor of Kenitra inspects Mahdia beach and emphasizes the fight against chaos and randomness

Kenitra Office — Abdelhamid El Maaziz, the governor of the Kenitra region, visited Mahdia beach this morning, accompanied by several local officials and representatives of relevant departments. Together with the head of the Mahdia municipality, Abdel Rahim Bouras, he conducted an inspection tour to assess the readiness of the facilities in preparation for the summer season.

During the visit, the governor stressed the importance of maintaining the beach’s cleanliness and ensuring public lighting along the Mahdia promenade. He issued strict instructions not to tolerate any signs of disorder or informal settlements along the beachfront, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to organizing public spaces in a manner befitting the tourist season.

This visit comes in a particular context, coinciding with the controversy surrounding the municipality’s plans to open bids for granting 74 licenses for food and beverage carts. This decision has sparked a wave of anger among residents and civil society organizations, amid warnings that Mahdia beach could be transformed into an “informal market” that may distort the general view and negatively impact the area’s attractiveness during the summer.

The newspaper “Express TV” was the first to raise this issue in a previous report, which later evolved into a public matter that generated considerable reactions.
