The government council approved new legislative projects aimed at enhancing child protection and modernizing transportation and vocational education.
Today, Thursday, the government council held its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch to discuss and approve a series of legal texts, as well as to review an international agreement concerning the civil aviation sector, in accordance with Article 92 of the constitution.
The council initially approved Bill No. 29.24 pertaining to the establishment of the National Agency for Child Protection and the creation of child protection centers and social care institutions for children, presented by Justice Minister Abdellatif Wahbi. This project is part of ongoing legislative and institutional reforms aimed at protecting children’s rights and ensuring their adequate care, along with the establishment of an independent national agency to implement state policy in this domain.
The council also approved Decree No. 2.24.393, aimed at adapting the traffic code to technological developments and the emergence of new means of transport, by incorporating modern concepts such as motorized personal transport vehicles and assisted pedal bicycles, and specifying safety standards related to them. This aims to enhance road user protection and contribute to updating monitoring and road management systems.
Moreover, the council discussed and approved Decree No. 2.25.438 establishing the High National Institute of Music and Choreographic Arts as a higher education institution in the fields of music and the arts. This initiative aims to enhance academic and technical training in various Moroccan and global musical styles, as well as to develop choreographic practice in both theoretical and practical dimensions.
The council also endorsed Decree No. 2.25.514, which deals with the enhancement of the competences of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in line with the administrative and organizational updates being experienced by this ministry in managing the economic and financial affairs of the Kingdom.
The meeting concluded with the review of an international agreement in the field of aviation regarding air services between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, signed in Laayoune on January 17, 2025, along with Bill No. 12.25 approving this agreement, aimed at strengthening bilateral partnerships between the two countries in transportation and trade exchange.
This meeting reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing the national legal framework and responding to the economic, social, and cultural transformations taking place in Morocco, in harmony with its major developmental orientations.
