The Telegraph: Morocco as a Fortress Against Terrorism
Express TV: Mustafa Filali
A report published by the British newspaper The Telegraph confirms that Morocco is a key stronghold in the fight against terrorism, extremism, organized crime, and illegal immigration. The report highlights Morocco’s vital role in curbing the activities of Russian and Iranian agents in the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
The report, prepared by retired British General Simon Mayall, notes that those opposing Morocco’s autonomy plan seek to maintain a state of stagnation that serves narrow interests and contributes nothing to the local populations.
The report mentions that supporting stability in the Sahara is not only the right political and diplomatic stance but also a step that could unleash significant economic opportunities for the United Kingdom. It emphasizes that Britain’s support for Morocco’s autonomy plan is part of a pragmatic approach.
Simon Mayall stressed that this move reflects the British government’s awareness of shifting political balances in Africa and its need to clearly define its reliable allies and partners.
For the first time, the United Kingdom has recognized Morocco’s autonomy plan submitted to the United Nations in 2007 as the "most credible, realistic, and viable" solution to the conflict over Western Sahara.
