Pakistan Closes Its Border with Iran

- in International

Pakistan has indefinitely closed all its border crossings with Iran, local officials reported on Monday, amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel and exchanges of strikes between the two, with threats of further attacks looming.

Qader Bakhsh Berkani, an official in the Iranian-neighboring province of Balochistan, told Agence France-Presse that authorities have suspended operations at all border facilities in the five districts: Jagi, Washak, Panjgur, Kech, and Gwadar.

This development follows Israel’s launch of “Operation Rising Lion,” which began with a surprise attack early Friday, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian military leaders and causing damage to Iranian nuclear facilities.
