A new center for processing visa applications for Belgium has opened in Rabat, aimed at facilitating procedures for students. The TLS-Millenium Business Centre hosted the inauguration yesterday, attended by the Director-General for Consular Affairs in Belgium, Jan Saldens, the Belgian Ambassador to Morocco, Gilles Heffart, and the General Manager for North and West Africa at TLS Contact, Bassim Masawi.
The opening of this center marks a new phase in efforts to ease access to consular services. Saldens emphasized that the project reflects Belgium’s commitment to providing transparent, reliable, and easily accessible services, noting that the new center is part of a strategy to bring services closer to citizens.
Initially, the center will cater exclusively to students, aiming to streamline the study visa application process by consolidating all application stages in Rabat, which previously required students to travel between the capital and Casablanca.
Saldens noted that this step directly contributes to strengthening ties between Morocco and Belgium by attracting Moroccan students to Belgian universities. He highlighted that the adoption of a digital system for managing applications would allow for more efficient processing but also necessitates advanced software and digital infrastructure.
Belgian Ambassador Gilles Heffart stated that the initiative aims to ensure quality services and adherence to processing timelines, reiterating the strategic importance of the relationship between the two countries, and that visa policy supports deepening these ties.
For his part, the General Manager for North and West Africa at TLS Contact explained that the opening of the Rabat center represents an expansion of the company, which has been managing the Casablanca center for Belgian visa applications since 2016, and emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering services that meet the highest standards of quality.
The Belgian Embassy in Morocco processes over 20,000 visa applications annually, a figure that continues to rise with the increasing interest in studying in Belgium.
